Security Cameras Don't Lie

The emergency room at the city hospital was quiet as Julian sat beside Clara's hospital bed holding her hand. The doctor had confirmed that Clara and the baby were completely healthy after undergoing several thorough medical scans. Clara was resting comfortably, though her eyes were still heavy with exhaustion and stress from the morning's trauma.

The hospital door opened softly, and Officer Davis walked into the room carrying a black tablet computer. He looked down at the young couple with a serious expression on his face before pulling up a chair. Julian stood up immediately, eager to know what was happening back at the grand estate mansion.

Julian: Is she under arrest? Did you charge Evelyn with attempted murder?

Officer Davis: We have good news and very important evidence, Mr. Vance.

Clara: What did you find at the house, Officer?

Officer Davis: Your stepmother claimed there were no security cameras working in that upper foyer.

Julian: She told us two years ago that the interior system was broken.

Officer Davis: Our tech team found hidden cameras installed inside the smoke detectors on the ceiling.

Officer Davis turned the tablet computer screen toward Julian and Clara so they could see the high-definition video recording. The video showed the upper balcony landing clearly, captured from a hidden angle near the high ceiling light fixture. The date and time stamp in the corner proved it was recorded earlier that same morning.

The video showed Clara standing near the railing with the brown folder in her arms as they talked. Evelyn stepped forward aggressively, reaching out and grabbing Clara's arms with clear intent to cause harm. Then the video showed Evelyn deliberately shoving Clara backward over the railing into the deep open air below.

Clara: Oh my goodness... she actually shoved me on camera!

Julian: Look at her! She stood there and watched her fall without moving!

Officer Davis: This video footage proves attempted murder and aggravated assault with severe intent.

Julian: Thank God you found that hidden recording in time.

Officer Davis: We also found your father's original will hidden inside her safe, Mr. Vance.

Julian gasped as the officer pulled a stamped legal document from an envelope inside his police bag. The original will clearly named Julian as the sole heir to the entire estate, mansion, and family business assets. Evelyn had hidden the real document for two years while using a forged version to control all the money.

The sheer scale of Evelyn's evil actions stunned Julian into complete silence as he held his sleeping wife. She had stolen his life's work, taken his home, and finally tried to murder his growing family for greed. But her own secret security cameras had recorded her exact crime for the police to see.

Officer Davis: We have warrants for grand theft, forgery, and attempted murder against her now.

Julian: Where is she right now? Is she in police custody?

Officer Davis: She is being processed at the county jail as we speak, sir.

Clara: It's finally over, Julian... she can't hurt us anymore.
